 Dear Roger,

 This is in reference to our ongoing discussions with Labor Relation’s Staff concerning implementation of trip rates. As we have discussed, certain pools have been given a “straight away” trip rate and a “flip trip” rate, while other pools are only being given a “straight away” trip rate. It is our understanding that if no “flip rate” is established for a particular pool, then the dollar value of the “straight away” trip rate will not include any monies from trips during the test period that were terminal to terminal and return in any form of a combined service loop.

 For that reason, it is also our understanding that once trip rates are in affect, engineers working in a pool that does not have a “flip rate” who are deadheaded to the distant terminal and worked back in continuous service, or, who work to the distant terminal and are deadheaded home in continuous service will be allowed two “straight away” trip rate payments for the round trip.
